How2 Training

The Service
How2 is the brainchild of Dr Neil Paul who recognised that practices would make better use of the available IT, if they could easily access Primary Care training videos for the different systems on one platform. The How2 training platform has been developed over the last 4 years and does this and more – it currently has 230 videos from 12 different systems including, EMIS, DocMan, Ardens, iGPR, ORCHA, iPlato and many more, along with videos relating to specific national programmes such as GPAD, CQRS, Yellow Card, eMed3, and changes to patient access to their online record.
Registering and using How2 is free for all NHS staff, and there are currently almost 3000 NHS staff registered on the site from across the country.
How2 is a crucial part of induction and on-going training across all members of the practice team and particularly in training new and trainee clinicians across all disciplines. This has been particularly welcomed by GP Practices who have recruited to the various ARRS roles, who are often moving into primary care based roles for the first time, for example First Contact Physios, Clinical Pharmacists, Physician Associates etc.
The majority of the videos that make up the How2 content have been created by our How2 team, this means that we have been able to respond quickly to support local and national projects such as the Cheshire Care Record, the implementation of Keito machines in practices, the national GPAD programme, and the moves to improve patient access to online records. The team also have ongoing collaborations with many IT system providers which allow us to include their content on the How2 site.
We are fully committed to supporting our primary care colleagues with this training resource which fully aligns with the Fuller Stocktake recommendation that:
“Systems will also have a vital role in providing a digital training offer for clinical and non-clinical primary care staff”

"The tutors are very clear, and break what is a complicated system into easy bite-size chunks which is perfect for a visual learner like me. The new certificate function is also fantastic to document the learning that has been put into place." - PCN Manager in Staffordshire
